AGL Resources, Inc. is an energy services holding company. The company's primary business is the distribution of natural gas in Illinois, Georgia, Virginia, New Jersey, Florida, Tennessee and Maryland. It operates through four segments: Distribution Operations, Retail Operations, Wholesale Services and Midstream Operations. The Distribution Operations segment includes natural gas local distribution utilities that construct, manage and maintain intrastate natural gas pipelines and distribution facilities. The Retail Operations segment markets natural gas and related home services, such as appliance repair and gas and electric line protection plans and also offers products that provide protection and comfort services as well as natural gas price risk and utility bill management services. The Wholesale Services segment engages in natural gas storage and gas pipeline arbitrage and related activities and provides natural gas asset management and related logistics services for each of its utilities, as well as for non-affiliated companies, natural gas storage arbitrage and related activities. The Midstream Operations segment includes the natural gas storage business, which develops, acquires and operates high-deliverability underground natural gas storage assets. AGL Resources was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Atlanta, GA.
