Amkor Technology, Inc. provides outsourced semiconductor packaging and test services. The company operates through two business segments: Packaging Services and Test Services. The Packaging Services segment offers a broad range of package formats and services to customers with differentiating characteristics of package formats including size, number of electrical connections, thermal and electrical characteristics, number of chips incorporated, types of interconnect technologies employed and integration of active and passive components. The Test Services segment provides a complete range of semiconductor testing services including wafer testing or probe, various types of final testing, strip testing and complete end-of-line test services up to and including final shipping. The company's history roots back to 1968 when Amkor Electronics, inc. was found. Amkor Technology was founded by James Joo-Jin Kim in September 1997 and is headquartered in Tempe, AZ.
