Calgon Carbon Corp. manufactures and supplies activated carbon. It also provides reactivation, and application of activated carbon, ballast water treatment, ultraviolet light disinfection, and advanced ion-exchange technologies. Its technologies are applied by customers for the treatment of drinking water, wastewater, ballast water, air emissions and a variety of industrial and commercial manufacturing processes. The company operates its business through three segments: Activated Carbon and Service, Equipment and Consumer. The Activated Carbon and Service segment manufactures granular activated carbon for use in applications to remove organic compounds from liquids, gases, water and air. This segment also consists of services related to activated carbon, including reactivation of spent carbon and the leasing, monitoring, and maintenance of carbon fills at customer sites. The Equipment segment provides solutions to customers air and water process problems through the design, fabrication and operation of systems that utilize the company's enabling technologies: ballast water, ultraviolet light, advanced ion exchange separation and carbon adsorption. The Consumer segment supplies activated carbon for use in military, industrial, and medical applications. Calgon Carbon was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Moon Township, PA.
