Loews Corp. is a diversified holding company. The company operates through its subsidiary, CNA Financial Corp., which operates in four segments: CNA Specialty, CNA Commercial, CNA International and Other Non-Core. The CNA Specialty segment provides a broad array of professional, financial and specialty property and casualty products and services, primarily through insurance brokers and managing general underwriters. The CNA Commercial segment includes property and casualty coverage sold to small businesses and middle market entities and organizations primarily through an independent agency distribution system. This segment also includes commercial insurance and risk management products sold to large corporations primarily through insurance brokers. The CNA International segment provides management and professional liability coverage as well as a broad range of other property and casualty insurance products and services abroad through a network of brokers, independent agencies and managing general underwriters, as well as the Lloyd's marketplace. The Other Non-Core segment includes the results of CNA's individual and group long term care businesses that are in run-off and also includes corporate expenses, including interest on corporate debt, and the results of certain property and casualty business in run-off, including CNA Re and A&EP. Loews was founded by Laurence A. Tisch and Preston Robert Tisch in 1954 and is headquartered in New York, NY.
