The company operates through the following segments: Performance Alloys and Composites, Advanced Materials and Other. The Performance Alloys and Composites segment produces strip and bulk form alloy products, strip metal products with clad inlay and overlay metals, beryllium-based metals, beryllium, and aluminum metal matrix composites, in rod, sheet, foil, and a variety of customized forms, beryllia ceramics, and bulk metallic glass material. The Advanced Materials segment provides advanced chemicals, microelectronics packaging, precious metal, non-precious metal, and specialty metal products, including vapor deposition targets, frame lid assemblies, clad and precious metal pre-forms, high temperature braze materials and ultra-fine wire. Its products are used in semiconductor, wireless, LED and data storage applications within the consumer electronics, industrial components and telecommunications infrastructure markets, as well as energy, medical, defense, and science markets. The Other segment offers sputter-coated precision thin film coatings and optical filter materials. The company distributes its products through a combination of company-owned facilities. Materion was founded in 1931 and is headquartered in Mayfield Heights, OH.
