Eversource Energy is a public utility holding company which engages primarily in the energy delivery business through its wholly-owned utility subsidiaries. It operates through three segments: Electric Distribution, Electric Transmission and Natural Gas Distribution. The Electric Distribution segment is engaged in the distribution of electricity to retail customers in Connecticut, eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire and western Massachusetts. The Electric Transmission segment owns and maintains transmission facilities that are part of an interstate power transmission grid over which electricity is transmitted throughout New England. The Natural Gas Distribution segment is engaged in the distribution of natural gas to retail customers in eastern Massachusetts and Connecticut. Eversource Energy was founded on July 1, 1966 and is headquartered in Springfield, MA.
