The company operates through the following segments: Engineered Infrastructure Products, Utility Support Structures, Coatings, Irrigation and Other. The Engineered Infrastructure Products segment consists of the manufacture of engineered metal structures and components for the global lighting and traffic, wireless communication, roadway safety and access systems applications. The Utility Support Structures segment consists of the manufacture of engineered steel and concrete structures for the global utility industry. The Coatings segment consists of galvanizing, anodizing and powder coating services on a global basis. The Irrigation segment consists of the manufacture of agricultural irrigation equipment and related parts and services for the global agricultural industry. The Other segment includes the manufacture of forged steel grinding media for the mining industry, tubular products for a variety of industrial customers, electrolytic manganese dioxide for disposable batteries and the distribution of industrial fasteners. Valmont Industries was founded by Robert B. Daugherty in 1946 and is headquartered in Omaha, NE.
