ViaSat, Inc. engages in the provision of high-speed fixed and mobile broadband services, advanced satellite and wireless networks and secure networking systems products and services. The company operates its business through the following three segments: Satellite Services, Commercial Networks and Government Systems. The Satellite Services segment provides retail and wholesale satellite-based broadband Internet services for consumer, enterprise and mobile broadband customers in the United States and also provides a platform for the provision of network management services to domestic and international satellite service providers. The Commercial Networks segment develops and produces end-to-end satellite communication systems and ground networking equipment and products that address consumer, enterprise, in-flight, maritime and ground mobile applications market segments. The Government Systems segment develops and produces network-centric IP-based government communications systems, products, services and solutions, designed to enable the collection and dissemination of secure real-time digital information between command centers, communications nodes and air defense systems. The company was founded by Mark D. Dankberg, Steven R. Hart and Mark J. Miller in May 1986 and is headquartered in Carlsbad, CA.
