USG Corp. manufactures and distributes building materials. It produces products for use in new residential, new nonresidential, and residential and nonresidential repair and remodel construction, as well as products used in certain industrial processes. The company operates in the following segments: Gypsum, Distribution, Ceilings and USG Boral Building Products. The Gypsum segment manufactures and markets gypsum and related products. The Distribution segment consists of L&W Supply Corp. and its subsidiaries, which distribute gypsum wallboard and other building materials in the U.S. It delivers less than truckload quantities of construction materials to job sites and places them in areas where work is being done, thereby reducing the need for handling by contractors. The Ceilings segment manufactures and markets interior systems products worldwide. This segment supplies interior ceilings products used primarily in commercial applications. USG Boral Building Products segment distributes and sells certain building products, mines raw gypsum and sells natural and synthetic gypsum throughout Asia, Australasia and the Middle East. USG was founded in 1902 and is headquartered in Chicago, IL.
